Sometimes rituals can make us feel like we are just going through the motions and sometimes rituals can be so full of life and beauty that you want them to never end. Family date night is one of those rituals that I never want to end. Every Friday (Thursday this week) we head out of the house and enjoy a meal together and walk around town or go to a park. Today was one of the most beautiful fall days that we have had and so we bundled our little bundle of joy up and headed to a local park for some fun with sticks and leaves. It is hard to believe that just 5 months and 5 days ago we met Emma for the very first time and to see her so full of joy today was life giving to me! When we walk anywhere she MUST be holding both of our hands. It is almost as if she is saying that we are not complete without all three of us. This is why this blog is called Nash Tribe because we are a tribe of three. God has given me the responsibility of being the leader of this tribe but do not believe for a second that I could do it at all without the help of my God and Jeana. She is more than my wife, more than Emma's mom, she is a gift of God in our lives. We have a common mission as a family to reveal the glory of God to the world through our lives. You are a tribe with the people that God has given you and you have a mission to give your lives to. Do you know who is in your tribe? Do you appreciate them and let them know it? Do you have a mission as a tribe? These are all questions that we must think about.
Some rituals may cause us to shrink back but family date night is a ritual that inspires me to put my family above my job, my seminary homework, even my blog. Do you have a family date night? If not consider starting one, it might just change your life!
Matt
